Mooney began playing volleyball in 1996 at Cherry Hill East, winning three New Jersey State Championships (1996, 1997, 1998). He strives to elicit maximum effort from his players and prepare them to continue their volleyball careers in college.
Mooney earned his BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, graduating with honors.

I live in Marlton, I have a 13 yr old who is very athletic but limited exposure to volleyball but is very interested. Is their a beginner program or summer camp that you would recommend
Absolutely! She could check out either our Summer Camp or Summer Doubles programs. There will be new players in both programs and you can find the info here:
http://www.chvbc.com/register/programs/
Hope she can join us!
My daughter would like to take lessons. she is going into 8th grade at VMS
Our Fall Youth Program would be a great way to start! It begins in September and the girls will learn volleyball fundamentals and basic game strategy. It’s a great way to prepare for high school volleyball if that is one of her goals. You can find more info here: http://chvbc.com/register/programs/
Hello! I was wondering if any of the coaches offer private lessons. My daughter lives in Maryland and is with me for the summer. She usually does two camps but with the pandemic this year they are unavailable. She will be a junior this year and lost a have a season of her travel team this spring. I was hoping to get her some work and thought one-on-one lessons would be a safe way to do that.
Thank you!
We have an outdoor summer program that is running for 6 weeks starting July 6th. Most of our club players are in the same position as your daughter and have been out of the gym since March.
The program is organized in small groups to encourage distancing and reduce risk as much as possible. You can find the info here: http://www.chvbc.com/register/programs
If you would like to discuss further, shoot me an email with your phone number and I’ll give you a call (scott.mooney@chvbc.com)
Hi, my daughter just entered 9th grade and has mentioned her interest and love for volleyball. She’s athletic but has limited experience playing volleyball. Is there a program and/or team that she would fit into? Thanks
Hi Melissa, due to COVID regulations, we are not holding any open programs this fall. We do hold an open outdoor program in the summer and expect to continue that in 2021. We also have indoor club teams that operate from December to May. This year, the tryout process will be a combination of invitation and in-person tryouts. We will contact everyone on our tryout email list when the process has been confirmed. I hope this helps!
Our Granddaughter tried out for the Freshmen Volleyball in Moorestown. It was the first time she played volleyball and she loved it. She is interested in “Club Volleyball” to increase her skills and learn how to better play the game. Is your program a good fit for our Granddaughter, as when we search Club Volleyball Moorestown, your club comes up? There is a tryout this Sunday, is it worth her time to tryout if she is not a skilled volleyball player? Thank you for your time.
Yes, we definitely consider new 9th grade players for our travel teams. If we are not the right fit, we are also happy to offer suggestions for other local clubs.
Hi I have a 4th grader who is very interested in volleyball. Please let me know if you have any programs for her age group.
Thanks.
We have youth programs that could be a great fit for a new player. The programs are held every season and you can find more info here:
http://www.chvbc.com/register/programs/
I hope she can make it!

Hi. Trying to find out cost for girls travel club. Thanks!
Our travel teams play in the GEVA Region of USA Volleyball under the club name Jersey Juniors Volleyball Club. Jersey Juniors is the top ranked volleyball club in New Jersey and the only club in the history of South Jersey to qualify teams for the USA Volleyball National Tournament.
For more information on travel teams, please visit the About page on the Jersey Juniors Volleyball website here:

My daughter is in the 3rd grade and wants to learn volleyball. I went on the website and saw your youth program beginning May 5. Would it be better for her to try the minis program or the full program? What is the difference between the two?
Our minis program is appropriate for players in Grade 1-3. While both programs are geared toward beginners, there are some age-appropriate differences between the two groups. Since your daughter is new to the sport, I would definitely recommend staying in the minis program since she is in Grade 3. I hope this helps!
My daughter is turning 13 and is interested in joining volleyball. She has no prior experience so she is a beginner. Is there a program you recommend for her? She wants to learn more about volleyball, get better at it and eventually be in a travel team. Thank you
Thanks for reaching out! We have youth programs for new players that would be a great fit for your daughter. The girls are introduced to volleyball fundamentals and play a variety of small group games. Most of our travel players started in these programs and they are also a great way to learn about the game or prepare for high school volleyball if that is one of her goals.
We hold programs each season (Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring). You can find all of the dates/times and a registration form for our email list here:
http://www.chvbc.com/register/programs/
I highly recommend getting on the email list. The programs tend to fill up in less than 48 hours. We only send emails when a new program opens up for registration.
No special equipment needed. Just shorts and sneakers. We do recommend a long sleeve t-shirt (it helps when they are learning to pass the ball).
Hope she can make it!
Scott
The summer instructional program is it competitive? And will the girls need jerseys?
Our Doubles League is a competitive program. The Youth Program in an instructional program. No jerseys are required for either program.
I hope this helps!
My daughter is 14 and has very limited exposure to volleyball and is interested in joining a volley ball program. Is there any program that she can enroll into?
Our Youth Programs are structured for new players who are learning basic skills. So they would be a good fit for your daughter if she is new to the sport.
I just looked in Community Pass Catalog and not able to find the registration link for SPRING 2023 Volleyball lessons, is that sign up already out ? did I miss the link ? can you please post it here in case I missed it ?
Hi Jenny,
Thanks for reaching out!
We’ll be releasing info for the spring programs as soon as we have confirmation on the dates/times.
Here is the link for the email list if you’d like to be contacted:

Hope this helps and we look forward to meeting you soon!

Hi there, will you be offering volleyball camps or lessons in the summer? I am looking for options for my 13yr old son and some of his friends.
Hi Claudia,
We don’t offer boys programs at this time. Our programs are geared toward girls age 7-18. If we open boys programs in the future, we’ll be sure to reach out!

My daughter is willing to play volleyball as a beginner. Do you offer any programs in the summer for beginners ? She is 11 and will be going to 7th grade in Fall 2024. If you have any program that suits her, please provide details and location as well. Thanks.

hi
I just completed email list for my daughter (11 years old) as a beginner today for Fall program. She’s trying to enter new venture on sports, Volleyball. So, how we’ll we know if she will be included for Fall? If not, for winter and spring – Are there dates of registration for these seasons so we know when to register? I went to Cherry Hill Program for payment but no Volleyball listed. Please advise. Thank you
We’ll send an email out as soon as dates are confirmed for each program. We have you on the email list, so you’ll be notified as soon as it opens!
